For free fun—try your Arboretum
Wednesday, March 24th, 2010I survived another 3rd grade field trip today—after one school bus, one ferry ride and a trip on the city bus (and then again backwards to get home)! My daughter’s class went to the Wright Park Arboretum in Tacoma (WA) and had a wonderful time. It helped that it was a record setting sunny day here in the Pacific Northwest, but besides that, it was fun and free. As a class, we were able to get “backpacks” with maps and descriptions of some of the Washington State’s largest trees in this very park, and the kids had a great time trying to find all of the huge trees, labeled with special tags. Most Arboretums will have education packs for families—becoming much more than just a walk in the park! Not all Arboretums or Botanical Gardens are free, but many are—check out your local one today.
Have a great day, Jenna
